The Nebraska Walk for Life commemorates the landmark Supreme Court decision, Roe vs. Wade, on January 22, 1973. It is the largest, longest-running First Amendment demonstration against abortion in the state. Participants gather at the State Capitol and walk several blocks to an indoor venue to hear a nationally known speaker deliver a profound pro-life message. Thousands of pro-life supporters have gathered for this event since its inception in 1974. Nebraska Right to Life also commemorates the day by distributing roses to state senators and elected officials at the State Capitol.
Join us at the Nebraska Walk for Life 2024 on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10 am at the north steps of the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska. We will hear many pro-life politicians and dignitaries and will commemorate lives lost to abortion. We will then peacefully and prayerfully walk to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Union. There, Melissa Ohden will address attendees with her message of forgiveness and healing as a survivor abortion. Melissa is the founder of the Abortion Survivors Network and will be releasing a new book in early January. Pro-life organizations and other vendors will also be at the Student Union.
The evening before the Nebraska Walk for Life, the 2nd annual Walk for Life Gala will be held on January 26, 2024 at 6 PM at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln, NE. Our keynote speaker, Melissa Ohden, will highlight the evening. Melissa will be sharing her message of inspiration as a survivor of abortion. She is also the Founder of the Abortion Survivors Network, the only healing and advocacy organization for abortion survivors world-wide and the Education and Policy Center, which impacts policy issues relating to abortion and abortion survivors.
We launched our first fundraising event, the Nebraska Walk for Life Gala, on Friday, January 27, 2023, the evening before the annual Walk for Life. This inaugural event was a historic opportunity to celebrate the end of abortion on demand in America with the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v Wade, honor pro-life efforts in our state, remember the lives ended by abortion, and support the work of Nebraska Right to Life. Guest speaker for both the Gala and the next day’s Walk for Life was Dr. John Bruchalski, a pro-life OB/GYN who performed abortions before an encounter with God. The Gala also included giving out the first Julie Schmit-Albin Leadership Award and the first Light for Life Award.
