On Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, approximately 293 Christians lined the sidewalks of Burlington Ave and 2nd Street in Hastings, Nebraska, forming a LIFE CHAIN in the shape of a cross.

This stand of peaceful and prayerful solidarity by the Hastings community was made to communicate that “Abortion is wrong, and the church is opposed to the killing of pre-born children.”

Christian led and church focused, Life Chain is interfaith and welcomes everyone who upholds human life, from conception to natural death. The event is held each year on the first Sunday of October, and

has been held consistently in Hastings since 1992.

“America’s holocaust of innocent children will end only when Christians resolve to end it. We had a wonderful turnout this year and hope to have even more attend next year,” said event coordinator Mary Souchek. “Our count this year increased by over 60 people. We are very grateful to the Hastings and surrounding communities for taking time out of their day to show up, stand for an hour, and pray for the unborn.”

Signs held by silent witnesses proclaim, “Abortion Kills Children,” “Adoption – the Loving Option,” “Jesus Forgives and Heals,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Life – the first Inalienable Right,” and “Pray to End Abortion.”  Many families came this year, bringing their children to hold signs, to pray and to witness to the sanctity of life, even at its tiniest stage – in the womb.
